EAT ELECTRIC DEATH! began as a spur of the moment idea quickly assembled one afternoon for fun. But, as such things can sometimes go, we got hooked on it and it began to slowly grow into something more substantial.
Right away, we decided that the game should be quick to play, and so, rather brutal, with no complex record sheets, very little bookkeeping, and ships that explode spectacularly --just like in the movies, and just like in the computer game that
EAT ELECTRIC DEATH! is drawn from, Weird Worlds: Return to Infinite
Space.
EAT ELECTRIC DEATH! is a "beer & pretzel" game. Long-time grognards may find it somewhat simplistic, yet others may find it to be a refreshing break from more rules-laden starship combat games. Regardless, we hope what has been presented will keep everyone on their toes and having fun while blowing stuff up with impunity. After all, isn't that what starship combat is all about?!
Most of the content in EAT ELECTRIC DEATH! is lifted verbatim from Weird Worlds. If you play Weird Worlds (which you surely should!) you'll feel right at home here. If you haven't, you're in for a few surprises --but not to worry. You'll still be within familiar gaming territory.
Many of the Weird Worlds alien races, ships, ship systems and artifacts are present, though some have been altered slightly, or excluded, to accommodate boardgame play. Also, Weird Worlds involves a strategic adventure game component not appropriate for this game.
In any case, if you'd like to see more "Infinite Space" content released, it's certainly there. Let Shrapnel Games know and we'll see what we can do.
EAT ELECTRIC DEATH! is also a sandbox game. When you know the game fairly well, variants are easy to devise, even on the spot. We hope everyone who plays will be tempted to experiment with scenarios and tailor the game to their liking.
Meanwhile, we encourage everyone who plays EAT ELECTRIC DEATH! to converse via the Shrapnel game forums online. We'd love to hear your comments and answer your questions from time to time. Online forums are a great way to share ideas, house rules and scenarios with others. We hope everyone will show up!
