Total Eclipse is not a single RPG experience, but an open ended RPG system created to allow gamers to experience a rich variety of settings based around a single set of rules. While designed for classic tabletop play it is available only in the very modern format of digital delivery, and has been specifically formatted to take advantage of the variety of smart phones, tablet devices, and e-readers (but is fully compatible with your good ol' fashioned computer) accessible to today's gamers.

The Total Eclipse RPG system has been enjoyed for decades, and now with its professional publication Disrupted Gears and Shrapnel Games look forward to introducing more gamers to this fast and fun system. Micro-advancement allow players to grow their character every session, yet in manageable chunks that reflect growth and experience realistically. Attributes are creatively used, encouraging role-playing over roll-playing. The skill based system allow characters to be shaped as the player sees fit. Combat is once again exciting thanks to the inclusion of morale mechanics that eliminate the typical grind.

Currently there are three books: The Standard Manual, The Adventurer's Forge, and The Virdean Gazetteer.

Product Overview

Once upon a time, way back in the dark ages of the 1970s, tabletop role-playing games (RPGs) introduced gamers to a fantastic new way to play games. No boards were needed, and the rules were kept to a minimum when compared to the increasingly complex world of conflict simulations. Taking place entirely in the players’ imaginations RPGs opened up endless worlds of adventure.

Over time the bliss of the early RPGs began to fade. Rulebooks began to look like textbooks on advanced statistical analysis. Role-playing turned to roll-playing. The rule lawyers, munchkins, and mix-maxers began to dominate.

The Total Eclipse role-playing system from Disrupted Gears brings back the wonder and excitement of old school gaming wrapped up in a modern package. Designed as an open ended system, The Standard Manual is the core rulebook that all other Total Eclipse books use as a foundation.

The Standard Manual includes rules governing characteristics of an adventurer (both attributes and skills), experience and rewards, the rules on the usage of skills and tasks, extensive combat mechanics, and an introduction to the concept of role-playing for those new to the style.

An easy read, newcomers to the hobby and returning veterans will find Total Eclipse to a breath of fresh air in world of derivative rulesets. Total Eclipse uses its own mechanics, and features a unique style that really allows characters to shine. A class-less system, players are free to design characters as they want, making it easy enough for gamers to base their characters off any possible source imaginable. Experience is awarded on a gradual, but continual, scale. This creates a sense of steady advancement without creating god-like characters. Combat uses a morale system that allows fast paced combat style that feels logical without making it complex.

The Total Eclipse system is available in electronic format and has been specifically designed to make reading on smart phones, tablets, or e-readers an enjoyable and hassle free experience. While designed for gaming on the go it works just as well on standard computers.

Bring the role-playing back to your table! Discover (or re-) the sheer joy of the art of imagination with Total Eclipse, the open ended RPG system that fires up the imagination without bogging it down with obtuse mechanics.

Product Overview

The Adventurer’s Forge allows Total Eclipse players to create a character in the fantasy genre. Think of it as a player’s handbook, detailing how to create a character, the various races, goods and equipment, spells, and more.

Character creation is almost a game unto itself, allowing even the most non-imaginative player to bring to life a wonderfully detailed and creative character. Characters come to life during the creation phases by being more than a series of statistics. Everything from family history (“The adventurer’s family was slaughtered by undead.”) to advantages (“At one with the mountains.”) to disadvantages (“Rude to wait staff.”) is decided through a series of rolls that in the end give birth to a living, breathing multi-dimensional adventurer just oozing with substance.

It wouldn’t be a fantasy game without the ability to play different racial types and players will find numerous non-traditional choices in The Adventurer’s Forge. Set in the official Disrupted Gears’ campaign world of Virdea, races range from reptilian humanoids to undead to fey. Of course humans are present, but even the humans stray from being vanilla thanks to nine sub-types.

Skills and special abilities are discussed, and a complete listing of spells is included. The system is not class-based, but mechanics for using archetypes, which are psuedo-class like (but more akin to joining a medieval order) are included. Finally, goods and equipment are detailed, along with a brief word about religion in the world of Virdea.

If you tire of the standard Tolkein-esque fantasy campaign and want to experience adventuring life in a unique setting, The Adventurer’s Forge is your first step towards a new freedom in role-playing.

Product Overview

The Virdean Gazetteer, when combined with The Adventurer’s Forge, allows gamers to venture forth into the world of Virdea.

Virdea is the official setting for the Total Eclipse fantasy campaign. A setting that dates back to 1980, it is a fully detailed campaign world ready to be experienced. The Virdean Gazetteer describes the geography of the lands, the history, culture, and even provides a language map.

More than just a world setting, The Virdean Gazetteer includes rules and information necessary to run a typical fantasy campaign. Extensive treasure tables, magical item lists, even disease and poison are discussed. The treasure tables are probably the best to ever grace a RPG, with tables broken down intelligently. No wolves carrying around great swords for loot here!

A bestiary to pit players against is included, along with a starting sandbox setting and several introductory adventures. The sandbox, a town called Altamonte, is the perfect introduction to the world of Virdea and will provide players with hours of campaign play.

The Virdean Gazetter is your key to a realm of magic and mystery!
